HIV TESTING 2016
London has the largest number of people living with HIV in England, with an estimated 45 per cent of HIV-positive individuals in England accessing specialist care from there.
With the London Mayoral Elections 2016 coming up in a couple of months, HIV charities like Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) are hoping that the new mayor will bring some change in the city.
The Mayor of Lambeth, Councillor Donatus Anyanwu, already took initiative with this cause last year by choosing THT as his given charity, owing to the rate of HIV in Lambeth amongst adults being the highest in London at 13.9 per 1000, according to council reports.
Whether or not London’s new mayor will prioritise making a change, you can do your part by getting tested for HIV.
Free HIV testing services are easily available in the city, and free, rapid tests available in a minute are also now available at the following venues:
Mortimer Market Centre The Archway Centre
Capper Street 681-689 Holloway Road
London WC1E 6JB London N19 5SE
